Happy Friday Loves! Can you believe it is Friday already? It has been a whirlwind week and I have a busy weekend ahead of me! I’ve been adjusting to a bit of a new role and routine at work. It is overwhelming and a little bit stressful but is getting easier each day or at least it’s becoming more normal. It was also my first week of following my training plan for the Boston Marathon! It went well and I’m feeling good and ready to start seriously training. Last night I did a 6 mile run. I did 1 mile warm up then 4 miles tempo at 8:06min/mile pace and 1 mile to cool down. I actually ran a 7:45min/mile pace for the tempo portion so I was quiet happy!
Also this week I have been busy putting the finishing touches on a fundraising event I am hosting Saturday night in Boston. All of the proceeds go to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I’m hosting with 3 other girls who are also running. We have about 50 raffle and silent auction items including cameras, lots of gym memberships, passes to yoga studios, private Pilates classes, gift cards to local stores and restaurants, photo shoots with local photographers, a one night stay at The W hotel and much more! We have a drink special called the RUNberry Maratini and there will be lots of free food and appetizers. And we will have a 50/50 raffle. I’m hoping it will be a huge success. Check out the Facebook event page for more info if you live in the Boston area and would like to come for a great time and support a good cause! You can also check out this clip, we were featured on NECN here in the Boston area!
A lot happened this week here on LiveRunLoveYoga as well! Let’s Recap!
I announced that Sparkly Soul is running a promotion with me! If you use the promo code WHITNEY you will receive 15% off your order! The best part? 25% of your purchase will get donated back to my fundraising efforts for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I LOVE these headbands. They never slip and they are so sparkly and cute! Now is the time to try them out!
I announced that I am raffling off 3 prize packages! Packages include a $50 gift card to Holabird Sports, a $25 gift card to Go Sport ID, a 4 week training planning just in time to keep you on track for 2012, and lots of other great prizes! All that is necessary to enter is to make a $5 donation to my fundraising page!! That is likely just the cost of your morning coffee!! So go on and enter and do a little good!
Athena from Fitness and Feta did a great guest post for me about Circuit Training! Hopefully you all learned a few things and picked up some ideas to change-up your workout to burn more calories and challenge your body! The coolest part about her guest post is we actually did a swap! I wrote a post for her about adding some fun to running for 2012 and ways to keep your New Year’s Resolutions! What were some of my tips?
- Set Realistic Goals
- Get a Plan!
- Track Your Progress
- Set Run Dates!
- Find a Running Group!
- Run for a Cause!
- Run Holiday and Themed Races and Fun Runs!
- Reward Yourself

And since it is January 6th I felt that I should finally get around to setting a few goals for this month! I was so busy thinking about my Goals for 2012 I kind of overlooked January! I’ll be honest, my January goals aren’t too exciting and are much like months past!
I have to raise $4000 before 5pm on January 31st in order to recommit to run the Boston Marathon with The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I fully intend to do this so meeting my minimum is a HUGE goal for this month! But thanks to the raffle here, and the Sparkly Soul sale and this weekend’s fundraiser it should be possible! Click on over to the sale or the raffle and help my efforts!
Start Training for Boston Marathon.
I’ve been running regularly since the Chicago Marathon but have not followed a plan since then. I need to start following my plan and get going on building my mileage and speed for marathon day! I have it all set and mapped out it is time to start running!
Study for my NASM Personal Trainer’s Certification.
I have been doing this for the last few months but I need to keep at it. I’d like to get some studying done this month but fundraising is a priority. We will see how it goes. Hopefully I can get some studying done on the weekends. My weeks will be busy with my new role at work, training for the marathon, fundraising, and blogging.
As always I want to keep my yoga up! Practicing 4 days a week is the goal but I think 3 days a week is more realistic. We will see how the month plays out but it is definitely something I want to be good about and know I need this month.
As I look at the calendar for this month it is packed with my events, Michael’s events, meet ups with friends, work responsibilities, fundraising deadlines and much more. I really want to make sure I don’t end up tired and run down come February. I was so tired before the holidays and I’m feeling so good right now. Setting time to relax, unwind and unplug will be a big goal for this month!
