I’d love to tell you that I’ve been eating super healthy lately but that hasn’t really been the case. Fall is in full force and that means caramel apples, apple cider donuts, apple pie and warm hearty foods. I love these foods and I definitely take time to enjoy them! It’s important though to realize that these foods aren’t low cal so portion control is key! Portion control just so happens to be a good habit, which is this months theme!
It’s been cold in the morning! I’ve been running in the mornings this week and it is very chilly. I love coming home and taking a warm shower, drinking coffee and enjoying warm oatmeal.
I’ve been remembering all of my favorite combinations of toppings too! It makes me so excited for breakfast!
Lunch.
Leftovers, lots of leftovers have been in my lunch bag! We made my favorite soup, lemon chicken orzo, over the weekend. Not only was it a perfect dinner on a cool fall night but also a great lunch. Other leftovers were homemade lasagna and bread. I always pack my staples like fruit, bananas, yogurt and granola bars.
Dinner.
We have had so many good dinners lately! I found a recipe for sweet potato burgers on Pinterest and knew we needed to try them. They were delicious. We also made homemade lasagna. I was craving it and it did not disappoint!
We have such a long list of meals we can’t wait to make now that it is cool out!
Dessert.
We went apple picking on Saturday and with all those fresh picked apples around I couldn’t wait to make an apple pie! Warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream is so so good!

Oh wow that sweet potato burger looks fantastic!
Yum! I MUST try sweet potato burgers!!!
So good! You’ll love them!
So funny – I made veggie lasagna to have ready for apres teacher training next weekend. Pumpkin bread is my favorite. Still looking for a good vegetarian chili recipe and Karen Sherwood just linked to Nutritious America Pimp My Recipe for a healthy mac ‘n cheese. And one of my all time favs is having that hot cocoa with raw cocoa powder, organic sugar and whole milk after dinner.
That is so smart to cook ahead for YTT! I am always too tired to cook. I love hot cocoa too, I use skim milk though…whole milk makes me sick!
I know that people think I’m crazy but I don’t like desert foods, soup, or turkey. I love fall clothes but not fall foods. Regardless, I do really need to eat healthier. Thanks for sharing.
Wow! I can’t believe you don’t like desert! Fall clothes are awesome!
