Scenes from Maine!

Standard

Hey Guys! We are back from Maine and I have to say, I miss it already.  It was relaxing, rejuvenating and  fun-filled.  The views were spectacular, the lobster was delicious, the salt air was refreshing and the sound of the ocean outside our windows was oh, so calming.  The quiet moments with Michael and the laughter that filled our trip will be memories I’ll never forget.  Words really can’t do the trip justice, so I’ll let the photos speak for it….

Enjoying this view and cup of coffee on the deck every morning…

Canoeing to a secluded point to swim and explore…

Discovering beds of muscles….

And collecting sea glass…

Striking a yoga pose in the most peaceful of places…

Getting some lobstah fresh off a lobster boat…

Taking in a beautiful full moon…

Waking to an equally beautiful sunrise…

Discovering Puffins are adorable…

Learning that the site of a whale will take your breath away…

Playing Golf on a gorgeous course…

Realizing that lobster can really make an awesome day *that* much better…

Spending the 4th of July at Campobello at Roosevelt’s Summer Home…

Discovering what basalt can do to rocks….

Seeing more lighthouses in one trip than you thought possible….

Making friends with seals not once but twice!

Spending your last night with lobster pie, a great bottle of wine, an amazing view and the man you love…

And wishing you never had to leave this view behind…

We spent the week in Downeast and Acadia and stayed directly on the ocean in a gorgeous cottage near Winter Harbor.  The vacation was a perfect mix of rest and relaxation and adventure.  We spent our days sleeping in, enjoying coffee and breakfast then heading out for some fun.  We went canoeing and kayaking in our bay, golfing, bike riding, and hiking.  We drove to Bar Harbor for a whale watch and puffin tour and to see the town and ended up playing some miniature golf too!  On the 4th of July we went to Campobello which is an International Park on Canada soil where you can tour Roosevelt’s summer home and then celebrated in Eastport, ME with a delicious dinner.  We even took some time to visit a winery close by and taste the local blueberry and fruit wines of Maine!  We spent most nights cooking and grilling at our cottage, enjoying the peace and quiet and lack of a TV and just chatting, taking in the view and enjoying wine! The cottage owner’s even took us for a boat ride and out to the local lobsterman’s boat to buy fresh caught lobster…an amazing experience!  In all we saw puffins, whales, gray and harbor seals, porpoises, bald eagles, juvenile bald eagles, more birds than I could name, and a porcupine.  I’m sad to see end but I know Michael and I have many more incredible vacations to look forward to!

I hope you all enjoyed the guest posts! I was so unplugged all week and enjoyed every second of it! Many thanks to Jess and Erin for their posts!

Have you ever been to Downeast and Acadia Maine?  Do you love lobster?
